Document Summary

There is only 1 rna polymerase in prokaryotes but 3 different rna polymerases in eukaryotes. Each rna polymerase is dedicated to producing different types of rna molecules. Rna polymerase 1 is the enzyme that produces these ribosomal precursor rnas. So they"ll make a very large precursor rna. There are regions that are for the ribosomal rna and regions that will have to be cut out. One of the first events that will take place is modification of the nucleotide, both on the bases as well as the ribose sugars. The enzymes that will be doing these modifications are the snornp. Once the nucleotides are modified, the 18s, 5. 8s and the 28s will be cleaved out the precursors rna through the rnase enzymes. 18s will go into the small ribosomal subunit. 5. 8s and 28s will go into the large ribosomal subunit. They"ll be exported into the cytosol and be produced into the mature ribosomes.
