Israel demanded the un recognize the situation at the end of the war. All of galilee now added, all of negev, much of the seashore. Now had access to jerusalem through a finger. Other 5 arab countries must also recognize the new map. Palestinian state was not created in the gaza strip and west bank. Had not been a demand of israel. Arab league decided that palestinians were not ready to have a new state because of the war devastation. 500,000-600,000 palestinians left their homes in the war. Felt in harm"s way, many left to egypt, Became refugees, as they were fleeing for fears of war. Why the palestinians left is contested to this day. The israeli army forced many to leave. Thought it would be an easy war, did not want to hurt their own people. Israel was unwilling to allow refugees to return to their homes after the war. Israel had already confiscated and redistributed arab territory.
