PHYSIOL 201 Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: Reabsorption, Starling Equation, Storage Organ
Document Summary
We will focus on the 1st and 3rd, and we will talk about the 4th one. There are separate mechanisms to regulate osmolality and volume. If you are hypotonic outside, the osmolarity goes down on the cell, the cells swell up and can rupture. Volume is important because it is related to blood pressure. Won"t really talk about getting rid of waste. Kidney can also make glucose (liver is our major source of glucose though) We have two kidneys and they are located in the back and protected by the ribs. We have two ureters and one bladder which is just a storage organ. Once the fluid that is filtered by the kidney enters the ureter, it is no longer changed. They will drain to the bladder and is released outside the body. There are two different subdivision of the renal tissue called the renal cortex and the renal medulla. The outer red region is the renal cortex.
