Communication as a practice; the practice of groups of people doing things together; conjoint action. Means of communication: texting, verbal, body language. Common: belonging to and sharing with, common interests; communication and commonality. Customary: occurring frequently or habitually; community automatically speaking english. Commune: a state of heightened social sensitivity and receptivity (you know more about your hometown than others who are not from your hometown) A sacred process as in some religious ceremonies. A secular process as in living with others (holidays your are with your family) Key ideas: receptive, process (flow of process overtime), kind of communing we do together and how they are taken for granted. Something is exchanged: messages, meanings between people. Focus on the means of communications in human exchange, and what that means. Three key ideas: interaction (you are never an isolated actor, you are always interacting with someone or something), means/media, meanings. Interaction (doing things with others, being with others)
