HISTORY 592G Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Rational Representation, Tom Hanks
Document Summary
Saving private ryan taught me that for the many brave soldiers fighting in world war. Ii, the war truly is a horrifying aspect of life that they unfortunately will never be able to forget. These soldiers, who valiantly volunteered to fight for the security and wellbeing of not only the united states but many others, are soldiers whose gratitude will never fully be granted. Ryan would not want to return to his homeland and family rather than stay with his remaining brothers and fight in the war. This is more on a personal, characterized level rather than a plot level, and does not guarantee much of an answer. Ryan"s behavior is his innate selflessness and ability to sacrifice his own life for those he puts before him. In this case he puts nearly the entire country in his hands, and would rather fight to the death for its security than return home without helping the cause at all.
