Unobtrusive observation scientist observes from afar without interfering. Participant observation scientist participates/interacts with subjects: limits: lack of generalizability and some behaviors are hard to observe (those done privately in the home) Survey research using questionnaires to ask a lot of people about their behaviors. Sample part of a population to reflect the whole: use random sampling to select sample.
