Introduction: the possibly gendered nature of the politics of resistance against globalisation has not attracted a great deal of attention in academic and policy debates either. In short, it is important to deepen our understanding of the connections among feminism, gender and the politics of resistance against globalisation. Conceptualising the politics of resistance: the discipline of international relations has traditionally been state-centred and, therefore, not very much focused on non-state actors, in particular non- governmental organisations (ngos) and social movements. In short, (global) civil society, social movements and the politics of resistance have now become accepted subjects of study within the ir community. In general, there have been several issues raised in the emerging literature on social movements. Gendering the politics of resistance: what entails a gender perspective on the politics of resistance, gender operates at three interconnected levels: the ideological, the physical (body) and the social.
