PSY 3711 Lecture 15: 15. Training and development 10.30.2018
Document Summary
When a task can be practiced to the point of automaticity, it is sufficiently consistent to allow a person to learn to do it nearly automatically. When a task requires controlled processing, it is not sufficiently consistent to allow a person to learn to do it nearly automatically. Readiness to learn : ability to learn, motivation, self-efficacy, prior knowledge (sometimes) The aptitude treatment interaction: any given training program may not be optimal for everyone because people differ in their abilities, personality, interests, experiences, etc. Individual difference characteristics moderate the effects of different types of training: there is (generally) no aptitude treatment interaction, being taught across multiple modalities is more beneficial to peoples" learning. Important because there is little point in training if the learning does not transfer the new knowledge, skills, or attitudes into the work environment. Training evaluation: showing what you did worked.
