Primatology: the study of fossil and living apes, monkeys, and prosimians, including their behaviors and social life. Primatologists: scientists who study the evolution, anatomy and behavior of nonhuman primates. Those who study behavior in non-captive animals are usually trained as physical anthropologists. All living primates including humans evolved from earlier primates that are now extinct. Those (primates) whose ecological adaptations are similar to our own; terrestrial monkeys (baboons and macaques) and apes (gorillas and chimpanzees) primates who live on the ground rather than in trees. Primates that are most closely related to us: the great apes (specifically chimpanzees and gorillas) Bodies of primates covered in dense fur. Mammals are warm-blooded (usually higher temperature than the air around them) Mammals give birth to live young developed within the mother and nourished by sucki(cid:374)g fro(cid:373) the (cid:373)others" (cid:373)a(cid:373)(cid:373)ary gla(cid:374)ds. Young have relatively long period of dependence on adults after birth.
