Sometimes zeus himself is identified as the creator of mortals, sometimes various gods working together. Prometheus, the titan who took the side of zeus in the battle against the other titans. His father: iapetus: forelearner, prometheus is known as being especially clever. He delights in outwitting those who appear more powerful: his brother: epimetheus, the afterlearner . Prometheus wrapped the best parts of meat in the repulsive stomach of an ox and the bones in shining fat and offered the two bundles to zeus to choose. In order to punish prometheus and the mortals, zeus removed fire from the trees where it had lurked before. Prometheus pitied his beloved mortals and stole fire from heaven by hiding it in a fennel hollow stalk. Zeus, twice deceived by prometheus, ordered kratos (strength) and bia (violence) to blind prometheus to a pillar in the caucasus mountains.
