Significant predictor of tooth loss (page 17 ) know the yellow term: smoking has the greatest odds ratio *1. 91) for experiencing tooth loss. Know 18, know 19 (the number on 19: only 50-75% improvement compared to nonsmoker. Smoking more will have more pd bone loss than someone who smokes less. Know 26 the clinical implications: smoking by itself not a contraindication to implants, but has lower survival and success rate, sinus aug, heavy smokers, smoking + periodontitis are higher risks. And also know when the cessation happens (33). Cannot reverse previosu damage! what"s already happened has happened.
