When fighting the queen of the amazons penthesilea, she fell on the ground and achilles looked into her eyes. He fell in love with her, but still killed her, which shows how devoted he was to being a homeric hero. Achilles was the best soldier with ajax the greater, his close friend, being second best. Story lasts about 10 days near the end of the war. Taking a princess was proof that you sacked a city. Agamemnon sacked chyrse and took the princess chryseis (daughter of king chryses) Achilles sacked a different city and took the princess briseis. Chryses was a priest of apollo and prayed for his daughter to be returned, and apollo spread disease throughout the greek camp.
