Stage concludes with achievement of symbolic thought. Assigning life to inanimate object: egocentrism. How things look like to them, is how everyone sees things: symbolic thinking. Hold image or though in your mind, and retrieve it later: centration. Preoperational children center on one piece of information. Focus on end or most salient aspect. Hold only one piece of information in mind at a time. An operation: an internalized set of actions (a process) that can now be done mentally which before had to be done physically. Logical reasoning: the ability to hold more than one idea in your mind at a time, the ability to take relevant factors into account. Beyond logic: capable of abstract thought and understanding of complex thoughts. Could be only a matter of brain development. In early childhood scripts: help: In middle childhood scripts: increase speed and capacity, more efficiency allows more complexity, increased abilities to focus.
