Media is one of the most important environments through which children and adolescents learn about the world. Exposure and interaction with media can impact all aspects of development. Ex: learning self-regulation skills, or is the addiction to high stimulation and reward media impacting the self-regulation ability. Ex: more time online = less time being physically active. Ex: social aspect of online world (affecting/increasing depression. As well as how children learn about the self, others and society. How they perceive members of various groups. Time and quality of media use can cause important consequences on brain development, sleep patterns, obesity, and other eating related problems and other mental issues.
