Document Summary

Think scientifically - what will logically come out of the data that you"re using. Requires active involvement of person being assessed (isn"t a passive process): collaborative process (person being assessed) People can be reactive/reactant - resist being assessed (i. e. kids) Get richer (detailed, believable and real) picture if use multiple sources of information for an assessment. Multi-method - use multiple types of assessments. Ex: self-rating for symptoms & use observations. Makes it more stronger & likely that the assessment will provide valuable data. Types of mental health assessment (2 main types) Referral question - why we"re doing a certain assessment (what is the presenting problem or the reason why we need to find out more information) Iq & achievement testing always included (types of psychoeducational assessment) Formal report - usually (almost always) includes diagnosis. One of the purposes of cpa is to get to an accurate diagnosis.
