Document Summary

In an effort to protect drug users and those around them, the university of texas enacted policies that sustain their responsibility to implement and enforce a strict policy. These clear societal problems have presented a challenge in how to match the college community"s changing values while still adhering to the rule of the law and looking out for public safety. The university"s drug policies offer a fairly thorough description of the university of texas"s stance on most drugs, but the policies do not do enough to distinguish between different narcotics. Additionally, these policies classify all substances from alcohol to schedule i drugs, including marijuana, under the same category. Due to the fact that there are legal, cultural, and biological differences in these narcotics, it is pertinent for lines to be drawn between the various categories of drugs, specifically marijuana. The analysis of the drug policy of the university of texas served to outline the relevant history, trends, and solutions.
