Document Summary

The brain is a very complex organ. It is protected by the cranial bones, meninges (3), and cerebrospinal fluid. Blood brain barrier: is not a literal layer, it is functional. The blood brain barrier was made to buffer the brain and body from the effects of raising/shrinking blood glucose levels. 3 meninges going from the bone inwards: dura matter, arachnoid matter, and pia mater subarachnoid matter space under the arachnoid mater between arachnoid and pia where cerebrospinal fluid circulates. Fibrous tissue, not permeable to fluid but it firmly adheres to the surface of the brain. Cerebrospinal fluid filled spaces within the brain. 2 lateral ventricles, one in each hemisphere third and fourth ventricles also available lateral and medial aperture have no pia. Choroid plexus inside the ventricles are bunches of capillaries covered by ependymal cells called choroid plexuses. Csf is constantly produced, so any blockage results in hydrocephalus or increased.
