New foods can be started every 3-4 days. Baby cereals: make sure both zinc and iron are included in these cereals. Fat intake: 7-8 month old incorporate beans (well-cooked, mashed, mashed tofu, dairy yogurt/soy yogurt, cooked eggs, cottage cheese just for lacto-ovo vegetarians, avocado/vegetable oils, make sure they are getting proper fat intake. A vegetarian diet can provide all nutrient needed by children and varying stages of growth. Watch fiber intake: a lot of fiber increases satiation, need to make sure the child is consuming enough calories increase calories through high nutrient foods. Watch out for choking risks they become comfortable with a variety of vegetables in their diet: usually are more healthy later on in life. Ensure children are meeting calorie needs during times of rapid growth and increased physical activity.
