Document Summary
Ghetto: a part of a city that is almost exclusively inhabited by members of one racial/ethnic group and to which virtually all members of that group are restricted. Limited access to state services and consumer goods. Most housing was built for whites during the 1930s - 40s. Federal housing administration (fha) denied loans to many people of color. Real estate brokers refused to show designated areas to poc. Redlining: the practice of denying mortgage loans for homes in nonwhite neighborhoods. They came together and came to the understanded that they could only sell to white people/ christians. Property can not be occupied by those other than the caucasian race . Language is still seen today but it is illegal. Realestate workers will not show poc white areas because they are afraid of being boycotted by the whites living there. Slumlords made money by ignoring housing repairs and occupancy codes and by charging inflated rents.
