Discipline: constructive guidance with choices and related consequences vs. punishment, goal of helping children develop regulation skills vs. teacher need for power/control, rewards and bribes vs. intrinsic motivators, continuity and follow through, child-centered environment. Rethink how the environment is set up. What can be altered to discourage a certain behavior: especially if you see the behavior occur consistently at the same time during a certain activity, expectations. Let them know ahead of time: natural consequences.
