Opera, ballets, chamber music, string quartets, piano music, vocal/choral music. Married charles seeger (1886-1979), one of the first ethnomusicologists. Very much a modernist, collected folk music at library of congress for wpa. African-american, wanted to compose so he dropped out of school.
