We cant pay attention to every piece of information all the time. Automatic thought processes, effortless and less conscious. Mental structures people use to organize knowledge about the social world. Mental shortcuts people use to make decisions quickly and ef ciently. The process by which recent exposure or experiences increase the accessibility of a schema or concept. Participants informed they would take part in two separate, unrelated studies. In actuality, study 1 was a priming manipulation, and participants were assigned to one of two conditions.
