Public law talks about the state"s role in what citizens do with respect to the institutions of governments. Criminal law, tax law, administrative law, constitutional law, international law = public law. Our constitution is the most basic law that governs the relationship between institutions of governments and institutions of government, and between the state and the people. In a sense, all laws are constitutional laws. They can be traced back to the first principles of the basic law. Constitutional law is the law prescribing the exercise of power. Tax law that was created over the last 3 decades. Allocation of scarce resources, who gets what, when and how. Others may say politics is about consensus. Others say politics is the art of who you can ignore.
