Interested in how social forces affect individuals" attitudeshow these attitudes in turn relate to behaviour (ibid) Constructed nature of attitudes: attitudes can be both positive ( this is the best day ever! ) or negative ( this is the worse day ever! ) The stronger the attitude, whether positive or negative in nature, the more powerful or influential it will be in determining our actions and behaviours. Created based on meanings, construction and/or definitional processes, rooted in interaction with other social actors: our attitudes can be both positive and negative (ibid) ex. Best/worst day ever: dimensions of attitudes (ibid: 242-243), opinion: how we think ; opinion polls such us how we think about social issues, etc. , direction: positive or negative, non-attitude: disregard, staying neutral. Strength: overall response, stronger the attitude the stronger the attitude.
