Aristotle"s theory: memories are the result of three principles: similarity, contrast, and contiguity. Descartes: argued dualism for the mind and body, thought they were fundamentally different also believed that functions like memory, perception, dreaming and emotions were properties of the body. William harvey: discovered the connection between blood circulation and the mind therefore the body and the mind must be interconnected in some type of way. Wundt changed the view, believed that the mind and body were connected. Believed that psychology"s primary focus was consciousness; the awareness of intermediate experience: hall (wundt"s student): established america"s 1st research lab, launched 1st psychology journal, and the first president of apa. Empiricism: pursuit of truth through observation and experience. Materialism: reality can only be understood by examining the physical world.
