Common approaches encourage +ve behaviour change and reducing -ve behaviours. Creating policies + laws to encourage/reward +ve behaviour. Using information and communication to raise awareness, educate, and demonstrate ve outcomes of relevant behaviours. Elaboration likelihood model (elm): a dual-process model of persuasion that predicts whether factual or other types of information will be more influential. Dual-process models separate automatic, unconscious thoughts and deliberate, conscious thinking. Motivation + time determine best process to use. Use intuitive thinking when no time or motivation. Using the elm, we can appeal to ppl through two general routes.
