Document Summary
Early watches: don"t need to know this. The spreading of skills: with the manufacturing of watches (during the early centuries) being a highly skilled craft, it was very much dependent on the people with said skills, naturally, migration of people will slowly spread this knowledge. But what really helps spreads knowledge is religious persecution, which in turns makes certain people migrate a little faster. Things getting a little dicey: during the 16th century, there was religious persecution throughout europe which continued for another century or two, many huguenots (protestants) made their way to england and switzerland, and among them were numerous watchmakers. Interesting times in geneva: when the presbyterian creed began there was the creation/introduction of sumptuary. Week 8: forbids excessiveness, intended to control behaviour. Week 8: the division of labour resulted in the production of watches that varied in quality as well as design.
