Document Summary

A number of individuals in a population are captured, marked so they can be found later on. After a while we capture them again to count them and estimate the population size. M1/n1 the number of individuals caught the first time (are marked) R (for recapture) the number of individuals who were caught and had marks (caught 2x) M2/n2 number of individuals we caught the second time. Rearrange the equation to find n, n= (m1*m2)/r. Might use if sight ability is difficult + for motile species. When r is greater than 7 we use the following formula. No biases, marking dont affect their day to day life.
