Document Summary

Statistics is a method through which political science is made simpler, designed in a manner which categorizes and classifies sets of data in order to simplify the analysis process that political scientists employ. There are overall two different categories of statistics: descriptive statistics, describes the data, takes the data and summarizes it, inferential statistics, analysis which allows us to infer and draw conclusions. So for example, allows us to draw conclusions on the overall population based on the data we collected regarding a smaller sample population. As with any political science inquiry, data collection and statistical analysis is dependent on the variables that have been designed for the study. Something that has to be noted is the actual definition of a variable, which can be defined as: A characteristic/trait that differs from one case to another. The opposite of a variable is a constant.
