This can have a profound impact on marine ecosystems, as some species may struggle to adapt to the new conditions, while others may thrive. Another consequence of climate change is the acidification of the oceans. This occurs as the oceans absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which reacts with seawater to produce carbonic acid.
