Document Summary
Principles of learning: learning is strati ed, simultaneously occurring neurologically (brain) and cognitively (mind). Birth > 6-months (brain with double and triple *in weight* by age 2) Children less likely to be held back in school, labeled with lds. Use it or lose it: learning requires repetition - a pyramid of repetition must be constructed. Repeat a cognitive function it will progressively become possible to learn more with fewer repetition. Learning a serial/list of words, dates, symbols, etc. Yielded observation that we now call characteristic of serial learning. Serial position e ect - position of the word, date, or symbol will e ect retention of that particular content. Those concepts that happen earlier or later are more likely to be recalled than those in the middle. Novelty e ect - when you have a long serial, you introduce a novel concept. Something that is unrelated to those names, date, symbol.
