"Advances in Reproductive Cloning" of Chapter 4 of your text explains, scientists have succeeded in cloning mammals of various species. This means that the cloning of human beings is currently scientifically possible, although no researchers have cloned or plan to clone a human being. The section also explains that the process is not yet technically perfected. After cloning is perfected and medical drawbacks are reduced, cloning a human will be possible. At that point, it would be possible for parents of a dying child, for example, to have another child who would be a genetically identical replacement. Would you find such a practice morally acceptable? Should it be prohibited? Or if the technology were available, should parents who choose to have another child this way be permitted to do so? Support your answer with moral reasoning.
