Deletions are one form of chromosomal aberration, the removal ofa large section of DNA, sometimes large enough to be visable undera light microscope. Imagine a series of 3 adjacent genes, denotedX, Y, and Z (in that order) on chromosome 12. There is also adeletion chromosome which lacks gene Y in its entirety. What wouldbe the phenotype of a heterozygote which carries 2 differentchromosome 12 homologs: one is the deletion chromosome and theother has recessive mutations in each of the genes X, Y, and Z?
