Because biological species are defined in terms of reproductive compatibility, the formation of a new species hinges on reproductive isolation- the existance of biological factors(barriers) that impede members of two species from interbreeding and producing viable, fertile offspring. List and discuss the prezygotic barriers that impede mating or hinder fertilization if mating does occur. Make sure you include examples of each.
