A microRNA, miR-21 is believed to target a Protein (xEMT) that is responsible for epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in cardiac cells. In other words, when miR-21 is present, xEMT cannot be made, and therefore, the cells transition from epithelial cells to cells that are more mesenchymal in nature. Design and explain an experiment to prove that when miR-21 is present, xEMT is downregulated.
