What would be the majorproduct of tert-butyl cyclohexene + Br2? I believe the majorproduct would be the one where the t-butyl group and the Br aretrans to one another. But when looking at the transition states ofboth products we see that when t-bu and Br are trans to each otherthat the conformation is in fact twist boat which is highlyunfavorable, whereas if the Br and t-butyl are sis, theconformation of the transition state is in chair which is highlyfavorable. Which one would be the major product? Is it in terms oftransition states or in terms of the final product?
