In 2003, the Beagle 2 Mars Rover was launched by NASA. We were told it crashed. Its final transmission, however, was classified top secret.... With secret exploration for twenty years, a non-human alien civilization was discovered on Mars in 2023. Among many other surprises, it is found that different physical laws exist on Mars. For example, electrons in atoms on Mars are described by 4 quantum numbers with meanings similar to those on earth. We will call these quantum number p, q, r, s (similar to n, I, m, s on Earth). The rules for these quantum numbers are as follows: p = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... q takes on zero or positive integer values and q lessthanorequalto p - 1 r takes on all even integer values from -q to +q (Zero is considered an even number) s = -1/2, 0, +1/2 (a) Please draw (i) the periodic table, (ii) the noble gas configuration, and (ii) the ground-state electron configuration for the elements in the first two rows. Assume Martians name their elements alphabetically A, B, C... (b) Now, let's focus on periodic properties. Among the elements in the first two rows, please write down ALL ionic compounds with the formulas (i) XY, (ii) XY_2, and (iii) X_2Y (c) Please compare the atomic radius of the following pairs of atoms or ions. Which one has larger radius? Please clearly explain your arguments/reasoning. (i) D vs. H (ii) A vs D (iii) G^2+ vs G^4+
