please help me...it should be finished within 1 hour. I cannotdo this. thanks.
In figure 3.3. pg. 107, the 4 pi electrons of a Butadiene molecule was modeled as free electrons in a 1-D SQWP. What's the hybridization of the molecule in terms of molecular orbitals (MO's) sigma and pi, sketch the geometry of the molecule; look it up online if needed but please reference your sources? If you don't reference your sources, you will get a zero for the homework: sorry but I really care about such things. Draw an energy diagram for the modeled n electrons with the correct one electron Energy Eigenvalues in eV. There are 4 relevant one electron Eigenvalues, 2 for the bonding and 2 for anti-bonding pi orbitals. Plot the associated one particle Eigen-functions using the Eigen-functions of the SQWP being used to model the molecule-are the model Eigen-functions consistent with those expected from MO theory: again look these up if needed? Now what is the 4-electron Hamiltonian for this model system i.e., the 4 electrons interacting via a 1-D SQWP and what is main approximation used in solving this many particle problem? What are the actual energy Eigenvalues of the HOMO and LUMO electron configurations and what are the corresponding 4-particle Eigen-functions?
