Note: Write a description of explanatory of this lab. Could anyone help me. Thanks you
DIRECTIONS Cyclohexane is very flammable and may irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. Do not use open flames during the experiment. Toluene is flammable, and inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption may be harmful. Avoid contact with the liquid and do not breathe its vapors. Separation. All components of the fractional distillation apparatus must be clean and dry. Pack an air condenser uniformly with stainless-steel sponge (see OP-32) or another packing material specified by your instruc- tor, and measure the height of the packing to the nearest millimeter. Insu- late the column as directed by your instructor. Obtain five clean, dry fraction collectors, such as 1-dram screw-cap vials. Label one vial âHETP" and number the other vials from 1 to 4, Weigh vials #1-4 with their caps on. Measure 5.0 mL of an equimolar mixture of cyclohexane and toluene into a 10-mL round-bottom flask (keep the flask stoppered to prevent evapora- e tion) and add a stir bar. Clamp the flask to a ring stand over an appropriate e heat source [OP-7] and assemble an apparatus for fractional distillation [OP-32], taking care to place the thermometer bulb correctly.
