Can you please help me understand this aspect of synthesizing aspirin reaction in detail: What is happening (chemically) when you add bicarbonate, then acid later? Help me understand this acid-based purefication. I know aspirin is acidic, but how does adding NaHCO3 react with it? Why do we then add the acid, what does that do? Does it have something to do with the soluability? Please help me understand!!!
COOH Reserve some SA Ac Acto for FeCl Test CHo OH H2SO4 catalyst Heat COOH ACO. OAC (ASA) impuities Add Hao Chill Vacuum Filter solution solid Perform F eC Test COOH OAc H2SO4 SA. OAC trace ASA impurities DISCARD Add aqueous NaHCO3 Gravity Filter solution solid COO Na impurities OAC DISCARD Acidify to pH
