C. What is the total mass of atmospheric CO2 in grams given that it is 0.04% by volume (i.e., 400 ppmv) in the atmosphere.
You need to know:
• Mean molar mass of atmosphere: Matm = 28.97 grams/mole.
• Molar mass of CO2: MCO2 (from B)

-Calculate p=0.04% x (MCO2 / Matm); this is the percent of the total atmospheric mass (from A).

D. Calculate mass of carbon in grams in atmosphere.
You need to know:
• Molar mass of carbon (from B)
• Molar mass of CO2 (from C)

-Multiply answer from C by (MC / MCO2).
