Question 6
a) Calculate the molarities of Al3+ and NO31- ions in an aqueous solution of 0.225 M Al(NO3)3.
b) A solution made by dissolving 3.00 g of a solid (molar mass = 111 g/mol) in 50.0 g of methanol (CH3OH; molar mass = 32.05 g/mol) at 21.2 oC had its vapor pressure lowered by 4.73 torr. Calculate the van't Hoff factor, i, under these conditions? (Pure methanol has a vapor pressure of 101 torr at 21.2 oC.)
