Background and context
Neurotransmitter is chemicals that are used by the nervous system to transmit signals from one neuron to another. Examples of neurotransmitters include glutamate, acetylcholine, dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. The nerve ending of one neuron releases the neurotransmitter, which is perceived by the dendrites of adjacent neuron and the message is transmitted or a response is initiated.
