Background and context
The glands which have ducts for discharging their secretions onto the body surface or onto the cavities in the body, are called exocrine glands, e.g., salivary glands, liver, sebaceous glands, etc. They also control short term activity, such as digestion. There are three types of exocrine glands - holocrine, eccrine, apocrine.
