People who are working in the real world offer more to society than monks. Humanism was useful and appropriate: had a very specific agenda. Spiritual way: northern europe individual personal relationship with god. As cities grew (large urban centres), the people that inhabited them had been peasants a generation before. Seeing a time where conflict was inevitable: why it broke out the way it did. Revolution broke out on the german royal home lands: a large group of fragmented land. Each one of the individual princes was worried about the emperor who would take power from them. The fragmentation of germany would make it so that the revolution could start. Had a desire to gain a spiritual comfort. Thought he was a horrible person for sinning so much: thought that through practicing all of the ridiculous religious monk ideals, he could gain some form of peace.
