Module 1: intro to neuroscience: the brain. ~100 billion neurons, typical neuron can have 1-10000 connections, therefore number of different combinations of activity b/t brain cells that is theoretically possible is larger than the number of elementary particles in the universe: ren descartes (1600s): Approach to understanding by separate the mental processes of the mind from the physical processes of the brain.
