This book is about the people who lost faith in god due to destruction of their city. Main theme is about hatred, anger and sadness of people. God"s choice to save the city and israel people depend on people"s faith towards god. Lamentations 2:5 - the lord was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up. Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of judah mourning and lamentation. This verse shows how people in that time lost faith in god. God was described as an enemy by people. Also, people thought the god was swallowing up the city . The purpose of this chapter is to express despair and teach god"s people that disobedience to the lord results in immense suffering and distress. Jeremiah pours out his emotions in compassion, and empathy for. God"s nation, as he watches them inhabit a foreign land.
