China is now africa"s largest trader, up to billions of trade. Most of chinese going into african infrastructure. Major infrastructure projects, 30% of new projects in africa are chinese investments. China wants the free flow mineral resources from africa. Chinese officials are not demanding that africa has to conform to western standards of humanitarian rights, etc. Some feel that there are often a due pressure to adapt western standards in africa: seen as constant criticism, not meaningful economic and political support. Tribalism always dominated kenyan politics: 2007, kenya explodes, rejecting of icc actions and accusations of western ways, tribes connects through families and ways through tradition, but is also a source of divide. West is critical of china due to human rights and the running of democracy. Africa needs more than equipment and china is ready to provide that: benchmarking china, kenya can also move very fast. Even as chinese interest increases, west still has involved.
