Fair trade: consumers buying products where workers are paid a fair wage, consumers: are willing to pay more for fair trade products because we are politically supportive. Anti-consumerism: problematic for the environment, west: focus on consumerism is unsustainable. Life and debt: structural adjustment policies and jamaica. Problem: spend so much money on interest on their debt: interest payments are too high, continuously in debt. Looking for an emotional and political reaction from the people. Subvertisements: parodies and critiques of mainstream advertising. Requested to put sweatshop in nike"s swoosh. People can wear a che guevera t-shirt while reading adbusters and listening to public enemy on an ipod . Poor and don"t have access to housing and jobs. Sociologists use this to point out that not all canadians have access to these things and similarly the privileged minority includes wealthy people living in poor countries.
