At some level personality psychology has impossible properties. All of theories covered in the textbooks are formal attempts to answer what is personality: general properties of personality theories: comparative analysis good theories of personality make formulations about: it includes all these four things. According to freud everything we do has its origins in sex. Mental structures/cognition: component of the mind that interrupt the environment, cognitive psychologists look for how people construct the world. Individual differences: a good theory of personality looks at variation.
